Visiting Fresco Chocolate Lynden WA USA 🇺🇸

 

In early January, my chocolate loving friend Teri and I had the pleasure of visiting Fresco Chocolate in Lynden, Washington.  Lynden is a small town renowned for its Dutch heritage and proximity to the Canadian border.  The chocolate shop looks small from the outside but the interior is filled with chocolate and a HUGE tasting table.  I can't wait to attend a chocolate tasting here!

When Teri and I arrived at Fresco Chocolates we were greeted by Rob and Amy, the owners and chocolate makers. We’ve all known each other for a long time so it was great to see everyone together and talk chocolate while we tasted and compared samples of the newest bars. 

Fresco Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker that offers unique transparency by identifying the roast one conche level of each bar on the package.  Clarity like this allows consumer to compare and contrast the roast and conche levels to determine their favorites and at the same time learn a little more about how changing small details in the making of chocolate can make a big impact on the flavors experienced. For that reason Fresco is a favorite of mine when leading tastings and pairings.  

Fresco Dark Chocolate Raspberry Bark

I always stock up on the single origin bars, I can never have too many Fresco bars in my chocolate vault.  This visit I also made sure to grab some of the Dark Raspberry Chocolate Bark.  My family devours this so quickly that I have to hide it until I take a photo, or else it is gone!

Tasting notes:

Madagascar 70%: A bright and fruity bar with notes of red berries and citrus.

Ghana 68%: Smooth and creamy, with subtle hints of caramel and nuts.

Nicaragua 70%: Earthy and robust, featuring flavors of dark chocolate and coffee

Visiting Fresco Chocolate in Lynden was a delightful experience. Fresco Chocolate is a destination worth exploring for chocolate connoisseurs as well as those who just want to nosh on top quality chocolate.  Hours vary so call ahead if you want to be sure and catch Rob and Amy in the shop.
