Salon du Chocolat Paris - Opening Night

Hello my chocolate loving friends.  I've just returned form the Salon du Chocolat in Paris.  Now that I'm home I wish I could have spent just a few more days there. In my life, there is almost never enough chocolate.

The city celebrates.  There is evidence of the Salon du Chocolate everywhere in Paris.  Signs are on busses, in the subway, and even in local shops.  I absolutely loved seeing the high quality advertising reminding me of how this city embraces and supports the event.

The kickoff.  Opening night hundreds of people lined up on a chilly night waiting for the doors to open.  Once past security, everyone was greeted with a flute of champagne.  The stage featured a live band and a fashion show with models in cacao and chocolate themed costumes.  Doesn't a fun fashion show seem appropriate for an even in Paris?  Look closely at the dresses, one even has live doves IN the dress.

The celebration continued with a procession of chefs carrying birthday cakes to celebrate the 25th year of the Salon du Chocolat.  Quite the way to start an event!

While the live band plays and everything is happening on stage, booths are also open and you can wander the floor of the show.   We were offered some of the chocolates from the birthday cakes passing by.  (They were filled with a deep dark chocolate mousse, amazing!)  There is so much to see and do all at once.

Cheers to an opening night like no other I've ever seen.

Stay tuned for my next post on Salon du Chocolat where I'll chat more about the main event and the wonderful people I met at the Salon du Chocolat.

Au revoir (still working on my French language skills)
