Chocolate Bloom, is it OK to Eat?

This fine chocolate bar with whitish bloom was brought to my attention and I was asked, is this safe to eat?

I'm not going to mention the chocolate maker, it might not be their fault that the bar was exposed to a little too much heat. I will tell you that it is one of my favorite bars and definitely fits into the fine chocolate category.  Yum!


  1. It's just separated cocoa butter. Perfectly safe to eat, though it might be dry. Suggest using it for making truffles, as that will make the texture a non-issue.
